The Gift of Comfort and Nourishing Recipes

Holiday .jpg

As we all get through this strange holiday season without getting to celebrate with normal traditions, there is one thing that still gives us comfort, and that is food. The Acupuncture Healing Center wants to give you the gift of nourishing recipes and knowledge of their health benefits. We want to be able to help support your sleep, anxiety, stress, and health through this holiday season.

An important tool in aiding your body is proper digestion. Between the holiday food and drinking, our digestive system and liver can go into overdrive. This can result in food stagnation. Food stagnation causes inflammation and pain throughout the body and can leave you feeling sluggish and uncomfortable. Some of you can relate this to food sensitivity that you have developed later in life.

Indigestion and food stagnation have been clinically proven to impact sleep, both in how quickly you can fall asleep and how well you stay asleep. While grabbing a bottle of antacids, pain medication, or sleep aids might seem like the best option, long term use of these products can make it even harder on your body to properly and easily digest foods. This is because it changes your alkaline acid in your stomach and throws off the balance of good and bad bacteria in your digestive tract.

With all the sacrifices we have had to make this holiday season, enjoying traditional meals and drinks does not have to be one of them. Enjoying traditions doesn’t mean you have to deal with food stagnation. After eating hard-to-digest foods or drinks, we have included a few recipes for drinks that can be used to support your body's digestion. We have also included a recipe for a side dish that is not only delicious but is packed full of ingredients that will help with digestion.
