“Do you believe your body has the capability to heal itself? I do. For the past 25 years, I have been studying and practicing non-invasive, drug-free ways to help my patients heal themselves, and to improve their health and overall well-being.”

I’ve been going to see Carmela for years now. She is a true healer. She listens carefully and always has good suggestions. Her expertise extends beyond acupuncture to other areas of traditional Chinese medicine, and she is always working hard to lean more.

My methods of working with patients combine unique complementary approaches designed to set the course for whole body healing. Rather than just address your symptoms, Chinese medicine regards the entire body as a system that needs to be brought into balance. To do that, I listen to you on many levels and then determine the best ways to combine treatments of Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, NAET allergy treatment, and reflexology. In my over 30 years of practice, I have worked with many patients presenting with many different types of conditions, including adults, children, the chronically ill, and those with acute symptoms. I have been serving the Triangle community for the last 17 years.

I like to consider and treat the whole body as a system. I use my intuitive gift as well as my training in acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and herbology to work with my clients. The goal is always to bring the body and soul into balance. In this way I can sometimes help my patients address and release issues that may have troubled them for many years.

Most Western physicians are trained in very specific areas. They are trained to look for, and treat symptoms of diseases in the area where they are present in the body. Drugs are used to treat the presenting symptoms, and reduce the pain. This may provide a temporary solution but if the underlying causes of stress and illness are not addressed, the problem is likely to re-occur. Chronic conditions can present a wide variety of symptoms. This can be very stressful for the person who feels that something is wrong but cannot get a complete understanding of what is going on in their body.

What I look for is body systems that are out of balance.  The understanding of the human body in Chinese Medicine is quite different from that of Western Medicine. You can read more about how acupuncture works and the underlying philosophy of Chinese Medicine.
